VISIT BJB.COM - LIGHT FOR DOMESTIC APPLIANCES

Our experience in delivering these sophisticated lighting solutions allowed us to play a vital role as millions of households around the world had to stay home during the pandemic, utilizing their appliances more so than ever before. This increased demand created massive turnover in product within the sector of household appliances, impacting the way BJB GmbH & Co. KG was able to close out 2020, in what was challenging market conditions for all, with a profit.

COVID-19 cannot stop us, rather the opposite, explained Managing Director Philipp Henrici. BJB positioned itself early on with customers as a reliable development partner for innovative lighting components for household appliance industry. It's paying off now.

Because the kitchen has become the defacto entertainment center as families depended less on eating out or attending events, it's no longer a hub just for cooking but the kitchen is more of a living space that has seen much more demand over the past year. Also, cooking zones, ovens, cooker hoods and other large kitchen appliances are showpieces which gain in value when they are presented in a contemporary fashion with modern LED lighting. The household kitchens of today literally has become an essential part of living culture.

Because of this focus, we bring more light to the hob, into the oven or refrigerator compartment, but also provide an enormous technical but also visual upgrade to the modern kitchen appliances.

This is the reason why BJB has made this motto: putting things in the right light and thus making their daily use of household appliances an enjoyable experience.

As Philipp Henrici confidently says:

Customers and users of the household appliance industry see us as a strong and reliable partner who consistently delivers effective and flawless products, and we plan to continue doing exactly this in 2021. This year, we expect further growth of this branch of our business in the home appliance segment.

BJB Offers Universal Interfaces for Smart Street & Outdoor Lighting
January 8, 2021 at 2:45 am 0

As we recently featured how BJB is favorably positioned for today's outdoor lighting demands, it's important that the connection technology regulates the interaction between the luminaire and sensor for the communication module to be perfect. It's not just about the optics...it's also about the quality of the connection technology...and BJB provides this.

For this reason, BJB offers the Zhaga Receptacle electromechanical interface. This standardized interface is compatible with numerous sensors and communication modules from different manufacturers and is equally suitable for wall and surface luminaires.

Lighting according to Zhaga Book 18

Smart city solutions is one of the future topics of urban development. With the new connection socket system for outdoor luminaires according to Zhaga Book 18, BJB presents a system that allows you to get started with Smart City technology on any outdoor luminaire quickly and easily in the public sector.

This interface has been developed especially for LED light sources and drivers in outdoor light fixtures. The basis for this development is an IP-compliant receptacle with a sealing cap.

The unit provides a complete electrical interface between the receptacle and the respective sensor modules. When used in conjunction with sensor-compatible certified drivers (e.g. Philips), the receptacle assembly is suitable for a plug-in sensor module with a twistlock system.

For communication and data transmission, the module is provided with DC power and a DALI 2 or a 2-wire bus. The fourth connection is reserved as a digital IO port.

The compact design with an improved seal facilitates the installation of the sensor module on roadway, street and surface area lights upwards, sideways or downwards.

Intelligent Street Lighting Systems are the Future & BJB is Ready!
November 4, 2020 at 9:14 pm 0

An important element of metropolitan infrastructure, street lighting technology continues to evolve and BJB is ready for this revolution. The overwhelming number of street lights that necessitate full coverage of traditional roads deserves a comprehensive system for economical and efficient lighting solutions.

With that in mind, implementing intelligent lighting controls and energy efficient systems that in turn facilitate light fixtures to operate autonomously by using complex algorithms that make deliver predictive results across the lighting spectrum. These include:

  • Photocontrols and motion detectors
  • Calendar Algorithms based on the Astrological Calendar
  • A CMS (Control Management System)

The lighting industry continues to go through a radical transformation driven by advances in solid state lighting based on LED technology. LED's have brought precipitous durability to street lighting systems along with tremendous efficiencies, as well as decreased maintenance costs that come with LED Street Lighting.

Additionally, LEDs can be effortlessly controlled by electronic logic circuits that afford a wide range of interactive capabilities that bridge the gap between the digital and physical world.

Intelligent light systems allow a number of the following:

  • Sophisticated user interactivity and advanced dimming & scheduling functions
  • Form a self-adaptive network that changes to road conditions
  • Can operate in different modes, depending on traffic and/or environmental conditions
  • On-demand lighting can be enabled by a sensor module to interact with human engagement (pedestrians, cyclists, cars)

BJB plays a vital role in smart LED Street lighting as well as smart exterior lighting, a topic we covered here at BJBToday back in August. We highlighted that:

Smart lighting is based on intelligent sensors or communication modules and data analysis. In order for the interaction between sensor or communication module and luminaire to work, you need the proper connection technology that connects the luminaire and sensor or communication module. BJB's Connecting Socket brings this to life.

August 13th, 2020 - How BJB is Impacting the Lighting Revolution

The BJB Connecting Socket: Zhaga Receptacle

Our electromechanical interface of the 47.121 series offers a practical solution for the connection between the LED outdoor light and the sensor/communication module. This standardized interface (Zhaga Book 18), is compatible with numerous sensors and communications modules from different manufacturers.

The BJB receptacles are equally suitable for wall and panel lights. They can be used to place sensors on the top (1), bottom (2) or side (3) of the lamp, depending on the desired function of the sensor. Depending on the application, the correct alignment of the sensor module with respect to the environment is required for proper function

The BJB Lighting Solution for the Public Sector

With BJB's connection socket system for outdoor luminaires, BJB delivers an unparalleled system that allows you to execute a Smart City solution on any outdoor luminaire quickly and easily.

This interface has been developed especially for LED light sources and drivers in outdoor light fixtures. The pinnacle of this solution is the development of an IP-compliant receptacle with a sealing cap.

The unit provides a complete electrical interface between the receptacle and the respective sensor modules. When used in conjunction with sensor-compatible certified drivers (e.g. Philips), the receptacle assembly is suitable for a plug-in sensor module with a twistlock system.

For communication and data transmission, the module is provided with DC power and DALI 2 or a 2-wire bus. The fourth connection is reserved as a digital IO port. The compact design with an improved seal facilitates the installation of the sensor module on roadway, street and surface area lights upwards, sideways, or downwards.

The marriage of LED lighting and advanced lighting controls within urban areas is just getting started. BJB is well positioned to assist in accelerating municipalities and communities in adapting these technologies. Reach out to us to assist in this exciting revolution!

BJB has the perfect solution for ‘downlight fixtures’
October 8, 2020 at 7:06 pm 0

To put it simply BJB has the best technology for down light fixtures. Downlights are versatile lighting fixtures used as a component of an optimal lighting plan in lighting projects. These downlights provide comprehensive lighting in a specific space.

When installed properly, it can give any room a welcoming illumination and perfect ambiance. The market is flooded with choices, but BJB provides the right solution for your LED downlight needs. And because downlights are so diverse, BJB has appropriate solutions for every conceivable type of application. These include reflectors from our standard range as well as various diffusor plates for common beam angles.

When it comes to determining your downlights, ceiling height matters. For instance, the further the light source is from your target area, the more lumination it will need. Also, determining the types of downlights are important too, as some may want their downlights to move in various directions (allowing you to tilt its frame so you can focus the light in any direction). Other types of downlights include surface mounted downlights (if you are unable to drill holes through your ceiling). And then, determining the required number of downlights based on your specific goals as well as square footage of the room (room size).
